Hewitsons appointed to Government agency's new legal panel

01 February 2010

Law firm Hewitsons has been appointed to a new legal panel drawn up by the Government’s national housing and regeneration agency for England, the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

The new legal panel consists of 15 firms in total and Hewitsons has been selected in the central region pool, covering the East of England, East and West Midlands, and Milton Keynes.

Hewitsons, which also worked for the HCA's predecessor, English Partnerships, will provide the full range of legal services from housing, development and regeneration through to charities, agricultural and regulatory advice.

John Dix, Hewitsons' managing partner, said: “We are delighted to have been selected for the new look legal panel and are looking forward to continuing to work with the HCA on a number of groundbreaking projects.

“As a firm we can offer the HCA a wide range of services and real depth of expertise. The fact we have offices in Cambridge and Milton Keynes is also an advantage as the HCA has two of its major regional offices located here as well.”

Hewitsons has previously worked with the HCA on the development of a 17 acre zero carbon challenge site in Peterborough, which will deliver an innovative, residential-led development of around 350 homes to the highest quality and design standards. More recently the firm has advised on the Pinnacle site, the largest office development in central Milton Keynes for the last 10 years, designed to the latest environmental standards.

The new legal panel, which will begin operating on April 1st 2010, replaces the 21 legal firms inherited from the HCA’s predecessor bodies, English Partnerships and The Housing Corporation, which joined to become the HCA in December 2008.
